Thought Field Therapy® or TFT was developed from applied Kinesiology and Chinese medicine by a Californian Clinical Psychologist, Dr Roger Callaghan. It is a safe, non-invasive therapy for the treatment of psychological disturbances or emotional issues, e.g. fears and phobias, past trauma, obsessions, and much more. It is extremely beneficial for children as well as adults. In essence, it is a “Tapping Therapy”, where the client will be asked to tap on specific acupuncture meridian points on the body while “tuned in” to the particular thought or issue that they wish to deal with. A bit like using acupuncture, but without the needles! This helps to reduce the physiological sequence of events that usually take place when one thinks of the particular issue. For example, if a client suffers from a phobia or irrational fear, even just thinking about what they are afraid of, sets a number of physiological events in motion, such as increased heart rate, trembling, nausea, sweating, etc. Often, after just one or two short treatments, the client is no longer bothered by the issue that had been so disturbing and upsetting up until the first treatment. It really is quite an extraordinary and effective treatment.

I had avoided flying all my life. When we did travel abroad, we always took the ferry and sometimes long train journeys as well. My fear of flying was pretty bad. It was my worst nightmare! When we were abroad on our honeymoon, and had boarded the plane to go home, I got a severe panic attack. I had to plead with the crew to take our bags off the plane and let us get out! I did not know how we would get home but I knew I couldn’t fly! In the end we had to take a series of trains and ferries to get home. I never thought I would fly again. Then I went to Colma for a few sessions. She combined TFT with other techniques.
