Please note the glossary refers to a brief overview ofskincare ingredients for their topical uses, and to essential oils for external or inhaled uses. The glossary is for general information purposes only. It is by no means complete and though we strive for accuracy, we are not responsible for incomplete information or inaccuracies, nor do we accept responsibility for how the information may be interpreted or misinterpreted. It is not medical advice. We are exploring possible benefits of some plants or oils and how they are sometimes used in general terms, but in this glossary we are not referring specifically to how to use our products. We must caution you that our balm and oils and other products are strictly NOT for consumption! Seek medical help immediately if accidentally swallowed.
You must always seek the advice of a medical expert or aromatherapist before using essential oils or any other ingredients. Each ingredient requires you to conduct further research to be fully informed of how specifically to use it, and to ensure there are no allergens you need to avoid or any contraindications with any medical conditions or medications you may have. Ensure that anyone else sharing your space when you are diffusing oils, is safe to be around them also.
We recommend our oil blends for inhalation. However, if you wish to use essential oils topically, please follow this advice. Always dilute essential oils well before using on the skin, using only a few drops of essential in a bottle of carrier oil, such as grapeseed or coconut oil, blending the oils well together. The essential oil quantity must never be more than 1% of the total blend, for example a 100ml bottle of oil must contain 99mls of carrier oil, and maximum, only 1ml of essential oil. We advise doing a patch test on a small inconspicuous area of skin first. Should you notice any irritation, wash the skin well and discontinue use immediately. Please protect your skin and surfaces from spillages as this may potentially cause irritation or sensitisation. NB. Some oils are Phototoxic, such as some citrus oils, so please do not use topically as you may need to avoid sunlight for several days afterwards.
This is our recommended method of use for Zavana Oil Blends. The essential oils are added to water in diffusers and are used neat in diffuser jewellery. As the oils are highly concentrated, only a few drops of the essential oil are required.
Essential oils must NOT be used by children, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding or with certain medical conditions. Always consult your medical practitioner for advice.
For safety, they must be kept away from children and animals. Ideally, they should be stored in a sealed container in a cool, dark cupboard.
